Classic well made vintage black textured wool dress & jacket by Brannell. Branell was a New York manufacturer of fine women's clothing, typically expensive when new and sold at finer department stores such as Battelstein's. This suit is no exception.

It consists of a simple short sleeved dress with a fitted waist and Aline skirt. The details are an inverted pleat at the front bodice, and a triple set at the top of the skirt. Details make the article of clothing stand out.

It has a full back-zipper and is lined in a substantial fabric inside the skirt, the bodice having a light silk.

The jacket is boxy with raglan 3/4 sleeves, and it has the same inverted pleats as the skirt, at the front hem. It is lined in silk. Closes in front with french buttonholes. "Branell" label. Also has a Jones, Williamsport label( a fine, long gone ladies store)

Let me apologize for the photos- black is the hardest thing to take so these look a bit faded out. The black really is deep and dark.
